The non-smoking is still going really well. Day 18 and not a puff yet. YAY! I won't promise to never have another cig in my life, though, because that'd immediately make me want one. *g* I still have some cravings but they're getting easier to control by the day.

I got a new car today. Well, not new, new, but it was registered in September last year so fairly new. It's a Honda Jazz (I think they're called Honda Fit in the US, which sounds a bit sinister), deep violet in colour with matching cloth upholstery and it's very pretty. We needed a 5-door hatchback rather than the 3-door Ford Ka because Dad was having trouble getting in and out of the Ka. I'm gonna miss my little Kitty Ka horribly. It started first time, every time, for four years and never once broke down. The Jazz doesn't have a spare tyre. It comes with what looks like a bicycle repair kit instead. *wibble*

Has anyone tried the new silicone bakeware they sell in Tescos? And probably in Sainsbury's and Waitrose and everywhere else but I happened to see it in Tesco. It looks like latex or plastic and scrunches up into a ball. But, it works! Paul made a meatloaf which cooked fine and turned out of the 'tin' perfectly, and the 'tin' just needed a quick rinse. It's not natural, I tells ya! We're meant to be bent over the sink scrubbing out the cookware, or doing in our backs loading the dishwasher. :p

He stares at the boy from his shadowed place underneath the Magic Box stairs, unseen and unremarked upon, at least until Buffy notices and chases him out or presses him into thankless demon-slaying service, and wonders what it is about Xander that makes his spine ache, his stomach knot, his unflowing blood burn hot and his cock stir. Xander isn’t so smart, isn’t so handsome, isn’t kind to him, but there’s something there, something that can almost fool him into believing his heart can thump. Just occasionally, just now and again, just every time he comes across the kid unexpectedly, every time it looks like Xander’s about to put himself in harm’s way again.

Stupid boy can’t seem to keep out of trouble. If he’s not being possessed by some zoo animal, he’s falling for someone totally unsuitable, someone who’d eat him as soon as look at him. And not in the good way. Spike knows all about the good way and he’d be pleased to demonstrate but every time he opens his mouth to explain this to Xander, in words he’s practiced again and again and knows deep inside are the perfect tool of seduction, they come out as gibberish, Xander looks at him like he’s a bug and Spike slinks away.

Xander can see Spike from the corner of his eye, hiding out in his usual spot. He idly notices that the top of Spike’s head is exactly aligned with the ninth step of the staircase and wonders if there’s some cosmic significance in that. Maybe it’s a sign he should go over there and say hi to Spike in exactly nine minutes, strike up a real conversation that doesn’t include deadly insults and promises of staking. Or maybe he should obey the instincts that have consumed every waking moment since he first laid eyes on Spike and grab him by the wrist and drag him somewhere, anywhere they can be alone and… His imagination fails at that point, but he’s pretty sure Spike will know what to do next.

Maybe in nine hours, nine days, nine weeks…

So if you've ever read and enjoyed a Dr H fic or tapped your foot along to the music or admired an Evil League of Evil vid, let your feelings be known!

If you haven't read any fic about our favourite, um, hero yet, Horrible fic is the very place for you to spend a happy hour or two, then you can get to nom'ing if you're so inspired. *g*

I'm trying to give up smoking. Five days without a puff yet, and it's not getting easier. Hints, suggestions, chocolate, cuddly toys...?

They beat the hell out of anything by, um, someone else who's well known for her novels in the genre. *g* flufshepherd made me a wonderful Crimbo pressie, which I adore.

*sob* At long last (his house went on the market on 8 December 2006), father-in-law has exchanged contracts with both his purchaser and vendor. No one can back out now! Settlement is schedued for this Wednesday and I've just been on the phone with a moving company. He only has a few bits to shift - a 3-piece suite, single bed, telly, small cabinet and some china and glasses. By this time next week, he'll be happily settled into his lovely little seaside flat and hopefully looking over the balcony at the boats and people going by. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Think I might move with him. *g*

Terribly pleased with myself for sorting out the layout on IJ. Why, yes, it does look remarkably like my LJ. I likes it that way. Familiar and comfy! There's a very good comm over there, nameless_layout which gives excellent advice and lilbrek works endlessly until she can give all the right codes. suki_blue was also tremendously helpful. *snuggles her*

nomelon has updated her superb Spiley, Domestic Bliss, and continues to amaze with adventure, excitement and the kind of relationship both Spike and Riley desperately need.

All in all, a pretty good day! *hugs*

Thank you so much to everyone who posted birthday greetings and best wishes yesterday. Yes, yes, I know it shouldn't matter at my reverend age, but it does! It gave me a tingle every time I saw a 'Happy, Birthday, Kitty'. I think I captured everything here, but the brain gave up after *blank* number of beers. Check out the gorgeous ficlets by velvetwhip and jans_intentions.

I'm adding katbcoll to the list because she posted on IJ, which brings me more or less smoothly to amejisuto, who paid for a coupon and enabled me to get a permanent account at InsaneJournal. Thank you, love! I love it there. Squeaky is the sole owner, not a corporate flunky, and gives straight answers to straight questions. A one word answer from him works better than all the pompous, poorly legal-eagled posts LJ can dream up. Sincerity! Well, there's a selling tool that's underused.

Last but definitely not least, flufshepherd made me two beautiful banners which can be found here, and lelaina_c sent a party hat and laazikat a red rose! *group hug*

Yep, you heard (read?) right. I'm not into SPN fic at all. I like the show and I know there's some great Wincest out there that I don't read. But, damn it, I had a bet with a friend that she'd write Dean/Sam within a month and she's only gone and done it in 12 hours.
